Training

As a school we place a great deal of emphasis on professional development and training for all of our staff. A summary of our in-school professional development programme for all staff is available here

However we also work as an active member of the East Lancashire Teaching School Alliance and facilitate professional development on behalf of ELTSA. Details of this can be found on the ELTSA website at https://eastlancstsa.co.uk/cpd/

Our current professional development programmes include:

Future Leaders for Teaching Staff

  • A leadership development programme for teaching staff at any stage in their career
  • Suitable for staff from NQT to Assistant Headteacher
  • This programme is now in its third year and has received superb feedback from participants
  • We can offer places on the programme at CRGS or, for a bespoke rate, facilitate the programme in your school
  • There are 4 sessions, led by Catherine Reeves and leadership/T&L consultant Julie Turner.
  • The sessions cover: What is leadership/leadership styles, Creating and communicating your vision, Quality assurance to sustain outstanding practice and Managing Under-performance.
  • Using research from the former NCSL and current best practice in this area
  • Strong focus on ethical and moral leadership
  • Includes a 360’ review for all participants, nominating up to 10 raters and participants then receive a personalised leadership profile to inform future CPD
  • £185 a place inclusive, if you attend at CRGS
  • Dates for the Summer term available on request, sessions at CRGS run on Mondays 4-5pm

Strengthening Success: A Leadership development programme for support staff in schools

  • A leadership development programme for support or non-teaching staff at any stage in their career (site/estates/administrative/examinations/CEIAH/pastoral/finance etc)
  • Suitable for staff from new in career to the very experienced
  • This is a development of the Future Leaders programme, created on request following the success of Future Leaders and to meet a need identified by ELTSA/local schools
  • We can offer places on the programme at CRGS in the Summer term
  • There are 4 sessions, led by Catherine Reeves and leadership/T&L consultant Julie Turner.
  • The sessions cover: What is leadership/leadership styles, Creating and communicating your vision, Quality assurance to sustain outstanding practice and Managing Under-performance.
  • Using best practice research with a strong focus on ethical and moral leadership
  • Examples and case studies will be focused on support staff roles
  • Includes a 360’ review for all participants, nominating up to 10 raters and they then receive a personalised leadership profile to inform future CPD

  • Dates for the Summer term available on request, sessions at CRGS run on Tuesdays 4-5pm

Coach to Develop

  • A half day programme available at CRGS for £50pp or delivered in your school for a groups of staff at a bespoke rate
  • Introduces or develops your understanding of coaching as a tool for personal development
  • We will explore the essence of a coaching approach, see how you can develop your own coaching skills with others as well as considering why a coaching approach can be such an effective tool for self-development
  • Facilitated by Catherine Reeves an experienced educational and leadership coach who is also a qualified life coach, bringing together the best of coaching, self-development and psychology to help grow the best version of you
  • For both personal and professional development or as part of a commitment to wellbeing
  • Learn tools which should guide and assist you in all aspects of your professional and personal life

Think Differently

  • This is a new programme, created in 2019 to meet a bespoke request for leadership team development
  • The programme can be run over a morning or an afternoon and would be facilitated off site, ending a morning/afternoon of development activities with a buffet lunch or tea for the team
  • Think Differently is a session of innovative, reflective and engaging activities to help your team re-visit core values, identify individual strengths and collaborate to share a sense of purpose and direction
  • The programme brings together periods of self-reflection with creative and flexible thinking enabling your team to have time to think differently, explore ideas and collaborate effectively to move forward together
  • Aspects of the programme can be personalised to meet the specific needs of your team and setting (for example: re-visit school aims, creatively solve challenges you are facing, build a new team)
  • Sessions are facilitated by Catherine Reeves, an experienced senior leader/trainer who is also a Master NLP practitioner and life coach.
  • The programmes includes full facilitation, all resources and refreshments. Cost depends on the venue chosen and the timings you require but for a little more information contact Catherine Reeves by emailing training@crgs.org.uk
  • The session ends with a light buffet enabling the team to share and reflect on their experience of the day
