Ofsted visited our school in November 2006. Their report was very positive and gave Clitheroe Royal Grammar School the highest grade. They described the school as outstanding.

Clitheroe Royal Grammar School Is An Outstanding School
Ofsted inspected our school in November 2006 and concluded that Clitheroe Royal Grammar School is an outstanding school. They stated that students’ examination results are impressive and they make much better progress than expected. Standards throughout the school are very high and achievements are outstanding. This puts Clitheroe Royal Grammar School in the top bracket of schools nationally. Inspectors said that “the very high standards and achievements are a reflection of the well-established ethos of care and creativity.”
The inspection report praised the teaching at the school and noted that a significant strength of the school is its focus on ensuring that all students develop personally and academically. They noted that teachers have excellent subject knowledge and use this very well to plan lessons that are often innovative and that students enjoy their lessons and are inspired to give of their best by enthusiastic and highly committed staff. They also praised the fact that students are encouraged to take a full and active role in school life and are given many opportunities to take on responsibilities.
The behaviour and attitudes of the pupils gained particular praise. Inspectors said that student behaviour is excellent and that they enjoy coming to school and relationships are very good. They acknowledged that students work very hard in lessons and that they have extensive opportunities to develop their appreciation of different cultures through both the curriculum and the wide range of extra-curricular opportunities.
