Extended Schools Award

Ribble Valley Schools were Celebrating Success recently, with 100% of schools in the Ribble Valley having achieved Full Extended School Status, this means that they have achieved targets set by Government across the Core Offer which has been set under the Every Child Matters Agenda.

Scuba Dive Training

30 students from Years 11, 12 and 13 are participating in the Clitheroe Royal Grammar School Operation Wallacea expedition to South Africa and Mozambique this summer.

Representatives of the School Council have contacted local councillors, expressing their concerns about road safety on Chatburn Road and asking for consideration to be given to the provision of a pedestrian crossing on the road.

On Wednesday 28th January 2009 and coinciding with celebrations in school of the Chinese New Year, ten talented linguists from Years 7 – 9 spent the day at Lancaster University.

Chinese New Year 09

On Monday 26th January 2009, we celebrated Chinese New Year.  Our photographs show pupils at our Chatburn Road site enjoying a Chinese meal including fortune cookies.  The pupils also took part in a Chinese Culture Quiz.

Rotary Young Writer of the Year 2008

Lucy Woods was the local winner and district finalist in the Rotary Young Writer of the Year 2008 competition and is to spend a day shadowing Vivien Meath, Editor of the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times, in the summer holidays.  Entrants were invited to write a story with the title “A Holiday Mystery”.

Creative Writing Project

From January to March this year, a class of year 9 and a class of year 12 students had the opportunity  to work with two writers to develop their creative writing skills.  Alison White and John Siddique ran a series of creative writing workshops on Tuesday morning which allowed the students to explore.......

Indonesia Expedition 2007

After 18 months of fund raising events, such as parties, cake stalls and supermarket packing, and training to get camp fit in events in the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge, the group of 28 sixth formers and three staff finally departed on the C.R.G.S Indonesia Expedition in July this year........
