Post-16 Financial Support
Details of the 16-19 Bursary which is replacing EMA are included in this factsheet produced by the Department for Education. Click here for a Question and Answer Guide for Parents and Students, produced by the Young People’s Learning Agency (YPLA).
Our 16-19 Bursary Fund Policy and application form can be found using the following link:

Eligibility for this bursary can be dependent on entitlement to free school meals and we would encourage parents / carers to apply as soon as possible – please use the links to the Lancashire County Council website (above), which provides access to contact details to help and advise you.
EMA will only be paid to Year 13 students who received the maximum payment when they were students in Year 12.
National Union of Students (NUS) cards:
We do not issue an ID card to our students, however we do encourage students to apply for a NUS card: http://cards.nus.org.uk/buy/default.aspx
This card costs £11 and pays for itself very quickly. Lancashire United buses, for example, offer a 10% discount on fares for NUS card holders. Many shops also offer discounts.
UCAS Card:
We also advise students to apply for a UCAS card: http://www.ucas.ac.uk/ucascard/ . The link shows the range of discounts that the card offers. This card is free and once signed up, students can also access:
-
Information about the courses and universities they are interested in.
-
A free monthly newsletter providing advice on the application process.
-
Expert help from UCAS advisers.
