International Music Exchange to Germany

Students at CRGS recently took part in our second international music exchange with partners from Gymnasium Waldstrasse (Hattingen, Germany). We rehearsed together in Clitheroe and performed as part of the CRGS Summer Concert. It was wonderful to see students from both schools working together and forming friendships. Many students had taken part in last year’s exchange and so the friendships continued to develop during this exchange. In the evenings and at the weekend hosts organised various social events including a visit to Chester. We had a really interesting guided tour of the city and watched performances from morris dancers and the town crier. A very British day out!

Following this, we travelled back to Germany together for the second leg of the exchange. During our time in Hattingen we rehearsed together and performed as part of Gymnasium Waldstrasse’s Summer Concert. Our students took part in a range of ensembles for the concert and we had a number of soloists representing CRGS.

We rounded off the exchange by visiting the Gasometer in Oberhausen. Since 1994 the Gasometer has been an exhibition centre and viewing tower. The exhibition was really interesting and there was a lot to look at. The view from the top of the Gasometer was fantastic and gave everyone a better idea of the local landscape.

It was brilliant to see students from both schools working (and socialising) together, and everyone should be very proud of what was achieved through the music exchange.
