Clitheroe Royal Grammar School has earned a prestigious place among the top 200 sports schools in the UK for 2024, as ranked by School Sport Magazine. This national chart recognises outstanding sporting achievement, showcasing the very best state and independent schools side by side.
For the first time in its history, CRGS has secured a position on the list, ranking at number 178. This remarkable accomplishment places the school within the top 4% of all schools evaluated — a testament to the dedication and talent of its students, staff, and sports teams.
The rankings are based solely on performance across more than 20 sports and over 120 competitive events. Greater emphasis is placed on schools that achieve success across a variety of disciplines, particularly those involving large numbers of participating schools. Typically, to qualify, schools must advance to the latter stages of multiple national competitions.
