Liverpool Maths Challenge

During February half-term, students from all year groups were invited to take part in the Liverpool Maths Challenge. The competition consists of 8 problem-solving questions and prizes are awarded to the best written solutions.  Students are therefore encouraged to show detailed working and explain their steps clearly.

Alfie Thomas, Year 7, had the best entry for the Challenge paper, aimed at students from year groups 7 and 8 and Lucy Baines, Year 10, had the best entry for the Senior Challenge, aimed at years 9 and 10.

Our Sixth Form students did extremely well in the Open Challenge: Scott Taylor achieved 2nd place; Joshua Loan-Clarke was highly commended and Billy Bowes and Charlotte Thompson were both certificate winners.

We are very proud of the students’ mathematical prowess and all the winners have been invited to a presentation evening at Liverpool University in June.
