News of the Royal Blues

On 2nd April 2017, the CRGS “Royal Blues” equestrian team took part in the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) championship qualifier at Northcote Stud Lancashire, entering teams in both the showjumping and dressage competitions.  The dressage team consisted of:

Megan Conlon on Mr Dave, scoring 67.59%, 2nd individually
Hannah Bettess on Owenbovy Eamon, scoring 65.74%, 4th individually
Sophia Bettess on Pickalilli Prince, scoring 62.04%, 6th individually
Vanessa Lace on Carraig Prince, scoring 66.11%, 3rd individually

This meant that overall the team came in first place scoring 199.44, securing us a place at the National Championships in October.  In addition, Hannah entered another class, coming 2nd individually with a score of 63.91%.

After that we had two individuals, Megan and Sophia, in the 70-75cm showjumping who both went clear.

Next was the 80-85cm round.  The team below came 3rd with a total of 4 faults and a time of 127.57 seconds, qualifying us for the newcomers championships in December:

Vanessa Lace on Carraig Prince, clear
Sophia Bettess on Pickalilli Prince, 8 faults
Alice Pilkington on Gladiator, clear
Lizzy Warburton on Murphey, 4 faults

Finally, Hannah, Alice and Lizzy competed in the 90-95cm class with 8, 8 and 4 faults respectively.

Overall it was a great day enjoyed by ponies and riders, with two more qualifications than expected!  We hope to compete again for school in the near future, in addition to competing individually and we look forward to the Championships in October and December.
