Thank you for your interest in our school. Clitheroe Royal Grammar School is a free, state selective grammar school with academy status. Students normally join our school at one of two stages, Year 7 or Year 12.
An Open Evening is arranged each year which offers an opportunity to view our school and meet our exceptional students and staff. We hope that you will be able to join us.
Admission to Year 7
There are currently 660 students in our Main School. From September 2016 our Pupil Admission Number increased to 150 with a 5-form entry at Year 7. This will mean that the total number of students in our Main School will be 750 by September 2020. Pupils join our school from over 40 primary schools from within our catchment area and beyond.
Admission to the Main School is by 11+ test.
Entry to Year 7 in September 2018
For entry in September 2018 the entrance examination took place on 30th September 2017.

Entry to Year 7 in September 2019
The Entrance Examination for current Year 5 students will take place on Saturday, 29th September 2018. To register your son/daughter to sit the examination you need to make an online application via our website.

Main School Open Evening
Our Open Evening for September 2019 admission will take place in September 2018. We warmly invite all prospective Year 7 students and their parents/carers to visit our school on our Open Evening to meet our students and staff. Admissions information provided on the evening will be relevant for admission to Year 7 in September 2019. However, you are very welcome to attend the Open Evening if your son/daughter would be applying for admission in September 2020.
If you are unable to attend our Open Evening, student-led tours are held on the first Friday morning of each month, by arrangement. Appointments can be requested by contacting the school.
