Year 10 Charity CommitteeThe Year 10 Charity Committee was formed several years ago and it has evolved into a thriving group which meets on a weekly basis to discuss fund-raising events. Each member of the current committee was selected after writing a letter of application and undergoing an interview with the outgoing committee. This year, several Year 9 students were also chosen, so that the voice of lower school students was also heard. The current committee is extremely dedicated, innovative and industrious. Members have raised hundreds of pounds for local, national and international charities this year. The group has ownership of the committee and members decide as a group which charities to support. They have an elected Chairperson and Secretary and minutes are distributed to tutor groups and senior staff on a regular basis. So far this year, the committee has arranged pop concerts in school, sold cakes, organised a ‘guess the teacher’ competition, made and sold Valentine cards, organised a singing telegram service and arranged a successful X Factor competition. Their efforts have benefited many charities. The committee members have gained experience in communicating with external bodies, organisation and working as a group and they have had much fun along the way. They have many ideas for future events and their dedication and motivation are to be commended. |
