Talking Languges Together Committee

On Wednesday, 25th March members of the Talking Languages Together Committee visited 7 local primary schools in the Ribble Valley.  We went in groups ranging from 2-4 students and taught basic French to primary school pupils to raise awareness of our Language College status.

TLT CommitteeAt Barrow Primary School we taught 3 French sessions with groups of about 30 pupils, lasting for ½–hour each.  During each session, we introduced ourselves, taught the pupils some French words, using flashcards, and read the story of “Les Trois Petits Cochons”.  To finish each session, we danced and sang with the children to a French song.  The pupils really enjoyed taking part and it was a great experience for all of us.

At Edisford Primary School, we taught approximately 9 pupils for 20 minutes each.  Throughout the morning we did 8 sessions involving French games, presentations teaching new vocabulary and exciting competitions.  We also gave out prizes and stickers for the pupils to take home so that they could remember the day.  To end each session we acted out and sang along to a French song.  The pupils fully participated in each activity with great enthusiasm and it was a real pleasure working with them.

Other Clitheroe Royal Grammar School students visited Brookside, Pendle, St. James’, Salesbury and Simonstone Primary Schools.  The members of TLT had an excellent time and it was a success for everyone.  We are looking forward to being involved with other projects in the future.
