Prefect Training 2009

Prefects

The prefects at CRGS have always provided staff with invaluable support in the smooth running of the school. This year 95 students applied to be prefects.

After a rigorous interview with Dr. Halstead, Mrs Woollam and Mrs Cavanagh, 62 students were appointed. The appointments also included Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl, as well as a team of duty leaders whose job it is to help staff supervise prefects and students during break and lunch times.

However, the role of prefect at CRGS is much more than that. Prefects are part of a team and we are hopeful that the team for 2009 will help make our school a happy and caring community. The photograph above is taken from our recent prefect training day, when the students underwent a morning of training. Students were involved with a range of activities, including role playing situations and team building exercises.

Communication skills were emphasised, and we hope that the students now feel in a more confident position to deal with a range of situations which they may encounter on the corridors.

Our prefects are eager to contribute to the life of the school and many have expressed an interest in creating projects within school or helping with existing clubs. We feel that our students will be the link between teachers and pupils. They will set the example for the other students and help to create a happy community for everyone at CRGS.
