International School Award 2009-2012
We were delighted to receive news at the end of August that Clitheroe Royal Grammar School has been awarded the International Schools award, which will be presented at a ceremony in London in October 2009. In order to achieve the award we had to create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrated how our activities met the criteria required by the British Council. Many departments, pupils and staff were involved in the project, not only from Clitheroe Royal Grammar School but also from our partner schools across the globe.
This prestigious award is supported by the DCSF (The Department for Children, Schools and Families). We had previously achieved the award at foundation level, however to achieve the full award we had to demonstrate that CRGS has an international ethos and that our curriculum provides significant opportunities for young people to engage with others from across the world.
The awarding panel was very impressed with the opportunities that CRGS pupils have to take part in international activities and engage with other young people from Europe and beyond.
