Extended Schools Award

Ribble Valley Schools were Celebrating Success recently, with 100% of schools in the Ribble Valley having achieved Full Extended School Status, this means that they have achieved targets set by Government across the Core Offer which has been set under the Every Child Matters Agenda.

To celebrate this fantastic achievement an Extended Schools Conference was held at the Grand in Clitheroe on the 1st October 09. The event allowed schools and agencies to explore the issues of sustainability and plan for the future whilst building on the good practice that has already been achieved in schools and children’s centres with Extended Services across the Valley.  All schools received a Certificate from Lancashire County Council Executive Director for Children and Young People, Helen Denton acknowledging their achievement. These were presented by the Mayor of Clitheroe.

Presentations were given throughout the day by schools and partners, which highlighted good practice across the Core Offer including Child Care, Parenting Support, Varied Menu of Activities, Swift and Easy Access, Adult and Family Learning and Community Use.

The delegates were entertained by Pupils from Longridge High School and their Out of School Music Club's Samba Band whilst CRGS’s talented John Wickham Trio amazed the audience over lunch.  CRGS students also met and greeted all delegated as they arrived.

The Mayor of Clitheroe said “Schools have overcome the barriers that they face regarding access to services which residents suffer living in a Rural Area such as the Ribble Valley and have worked hard to ensure that their pupils, families and local community benefit from the Extended Schools Service, I am delighted that every school has achieved Extended School Status it is an enormous achievement and I am honoured to be able to present the certificates today”.
