Frequently asked questions

How many lessons are there each day?
On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday there are 5 lessons.  On Wednesday there are four lessons.  Each lesson lasts for one hour and there are three lessons in a morning.  There is a 15 minute break between lessons in the morning and afternoon and we have a one hour break at lunchtime.  We have a break between each lesson because our teachers have to travel to and from our sixth form site.

Is it easy to get lost at school?
Although CRGS is probably a lot bigger than your primary school you will soon find your way around.  All the classrooms are numbered and you will find a map of the building in your planner to help you.  If you do get lost or are not sure where to find a particular room, just ask for help or go to the Main Office.

What happens at lunchtime?
You can buy lunch in our Dining Room or you can bring a packed lunch.  The food at CRGS is really good and it is available at both morning breaks as well as at lunchtime.  Each year group has its own priority day so that all year groups get an equal chance to go to the front of the queue.  More information about food and drink will be available when you join, but we think that the food is really good.

Are there many clubs that you can join?
Yes!  There is an amazing range of activities that take place each week.  We are sure that you will find something to interest you and more information will be available in September.  Some activities take place at lunchtime and others take place after school.  If you are attending an activity after school you will need to make sure that your parents know well in advance so that they can make arrangements for you to get home

What happens about buses?
A lot of students do travel to and from CRGS by bus.  The school does not organise or manage the bus services but if your parents want specific information they can contact The Globe Centre on 01254 220500.  If you do catch a bus at the end of the day it is really important that you listen very carefully to instructions from the members of staff on duty.  This will help ensure that you do not miss your bus.

Do you get homework?
Yes!  The amount of time you spend on it may vary but it is important that you make sure that you complete the work by the deadline set so that you do not get a penalty point for missed homework.  You will be given a planner at the start of term and it is important that you write down the homework carefully so that you know what needs to be done and when it has to be handed in.

Is there much bullying at school?
No!  CRGS is a very friendly school and it is very rare that there is bullying of any kind.  If you do have a problem it is important that you tell someone straightaway so that the problem can be sorted out quickly.
