Academy School Status

We were delighted to receive a letter from Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education, confirming that our application to become a school with Academy Status had been successful with a conversion date of 1st January, 2011.

The Governing Body carefully considered the opportunities that Academy School Status could offer the students and staff of Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and the wider community.  This is a real opportunity to keep our school at the forefront of educational developments and to go forward to become even more successful.

The Governors and Headteacher do not expect this to be a time of change but a time for Clitheroe Royal Grammar School to flourish as an autonomous school.

We will continue to work closely with the Local Authority and our community of schools to raise standards in education.

We have received support from members of the local community who value the contributions the school makes to educating young people and the wider community.

We are certain that Clitheroe Royal Grammar School will go from strength to strength and the character and ethos of the school will not change.  Academy School Status will enable Clitheroe Royal Grammar School to maintain and develop the quality of education provided for the benefit of the whole school and the local community.
