Gladstone Memorial Essay Prize

We are delighted to announce that CRGS student Declan Boyd has just won a nationwide Sixth Form essay prize.

Published twice a year, ‘Omnibus’ is the official magazine of the Joint Association of Classical Teachers (JACT), which offers fresh insights into the greatest classical texts and provides news and views from the world of classical archaeology and art. Every year the magazine invites contributions from students and this year Declan’s essay answered the question ‘The world of historians is a man’s world’. To what extent do you agree? with reference to Tacitus’ Annals.

As well as winning the publication’s Gladstone Memorial Essay Prize, worth £250, Declan’s essay has already received a number of favourable reviews from prominent classical scholars following its online publication, and it will appear in the next magazine.

This is a fantastic achievement – well done, Declan.
